The Debate Between Lagree vs. Pilates
“It’s Pilates on Crack.” “It’s Not Pilates, It’s Lagree.” “Lagree is an advanced Pilates class!”
In your search to find the best workout method for you, it’s possible you’ve come across the ongoing debate between Lagree vs. Pilates. Check out similarities and differences and just what makes Lagree’s Megaformer THEE workout in 2021!
Megaformer vs. Reformer
When most people hear the word Megaformer, they assume that it is some form of a Pilates reformer. Although both machines have a moving carriage, resistance, hand/foot straps, and handlebars, the Megaformer machine allows you to make more adjustments with features like a larger carriage, different handle lengths, eyelets & straps for comfortable limb placement, more resistance options, and a back platform. These features all allow for various total body movements and smooth transitions for any body type!
Slow vs. Fast
During Pilates, you’ll likely move quickly during movements while Lagree will test how slow you can go. On the Megaformer you will use slow, controlled movements that will work multiple muscle groups and modalities in a short period of time. The more muscles you can engage in a short amount of time, the longer you will burn energy later. I’m talking 24-48 hours after!
Smooth Transitions vs. Start & Stop
In a Reformer or mat Pilates class, you will likely pause between movements or have quick spurts of rest to grab some water and watch your instructor demo the next move. The goal of Lagree is to keep your body in a constant state of heart-pumping, fat burning, toxin destroying, motion to maximize your workout. Although your Lagree coach won’t cue a break, you are ALWAYS allowed to pause, reset, grab a drink, etc…
High vs. Low Intensity
Both Pilates and Lagree are both safe and proven ways to improve your core strength, flexibility, and balance, while toning muscle. However, Pilates is low intensity, meaning your heart-rate will stay similar to how it would if you were walking or leisurely riding a bike. Lagree Fitness works your cardiovascular system, which gets your heart pumping, creates the opportunity for better fat loss results, and allows for muscle definition and strength because of its heavy resistance options.
